This shot was a huge team effort and I was lucky to be part of the team working on this eye-candy shot under the supervision of Jeff De Guzman and Tadeusz Chmiel. So the whole credit for the look goes to the entire team and specially the comp. I was responsible for doing the sky, clouds and the lightnings ( the Star destroyers were rendered by the Lighting Tds) . It was a long series of back and forth between teams/departments and it took us a long time to get to this look of Exegol. The light source was supposed to be a dying star in this sequence during the battle so you can experience the change in the light ( getting darker ) over these couple of shots in the movie. One of the most interesting and challenging part in this was to get the depth where we can see almost several hundred kilometres in space.
I used clarisse for clouds and lightnings pass. Sky was basically a matte paint in nuke. I hope you guys enjoyed watching it as much as I did working on it. :)
